Thanks to everyone who came out Friday, Nov. 18, and Monday, Nov. 21, for readings at the Antenna Gallery.

On Nov. 18, twelve writers associated with PANK Magazine from New Orleans and beyond “invaded” the gallery for the most raucous reading Room 220 has hosted. Over 130 people showed up (that’s more than ten folks per reader, math enthusiasts), and none of the performers disappointed—most were hilarious, moving, or some combination thereof. Antonia Crane, Michael Glaviano, Anya Groner, Jenn Marie Nunes, and Gary Sheppard were highlights. Check out how cool everyone was:

Only a few days later, on Nov. 21, John Jeremiah Sullivan stopped in New Orleans on his tour in support of Pulphead, his fantastic new book of collected essays. Nathaniel Rich, author of The Mayor’s Tongue, also read a Thanksgiving-themed piece he had recently published in the New York Times Magazine. Aubrey Edwards, who took the portrait that accompanies the Room 220 interview with Sullivan, snapped a couple photos with her phone.

Room 220 is taking a break from hosting events this winter, but will return in spring with a full docket beginning in March. The site will stay live in the interim. See you then!

We’re Pregnant is a chapbook of short fiction by Room 220 editor Nathan C. Martin along with photography by Akasha Rabut, Sophie T. Lvoff, and Grissel Giuliano. The book contains three of Martin’s short stories—which explore in morbid fashion anxieties related to sex, disease, marriage, and childbirth—with images inspired by the stories from each of the photographers.
