A traveling exhibition and research project by ALISON PEBWORTH
January 12- February 3, 2013
Drawing inspiration from the nomadic experience of 18th and 19th century itinerant explorers and traders and the traveling culture of medicine shows and chautauquas, Pebworth travels across the U.S. engaging communities about what it means to be American. An exhibition of hand-painted banners “re-tell” American history by mixing eras, integrating obscure and popular figures and linking historic myths and contemporary culture.

We’re Pregnant is a chapbook of short fiction by Room 220 editor Nathan C. Martin along with photography by Akasha Rabut, Sophie T. Lvoff, and Grissel Giuliano. The book contains three of Martin’s short stories—which explore in morbid fashion anxieties related to sex, disease, marriage, and childbirth—with images inspired by the stories from each of the photographers.
